Harvard Business Review article explained
specifically of how biology and leadership interacts. In the other article, it
explained how other people around you and your own action change. I get attuned
when I feel sympathy, but the person who talks has the ability to make others
feel sympathy, it’s not like the content of the talk is convincing. The
explanation of mirror neurons, and spindle-cell circuitry is totally new to me.
It was interesting, because how people get interested in how the human
biological functions work in leadership issues.
The article gives an example of a “Finely
Attuned” leader. The person had problems such as aggressive, opinionated,
lacking in political astuteness, and careless. It shows that social interaction
is important as a leader, and as a member of the society, even if the person
can do their work effectively. The women mentioned in the article eventually
accomplished to improve.
Like these famous women executives in the world, they look so cool to me.

They seem to have the strong pose, and the good hand signs for their talk. They sure do look confident!
I read Sheryl Sandberg's "LEAN IN", and it did no actually mention about postures or facial expressions, but she always mentioned to lean in. She also said that one of the key points to her success is that she had good personal relations with her boss and colleagues, which means that communications and the character of the person becomes the key. As well as other executives, it seems that she is good at social intelligence or creating a friendly relation with others.
When I talk with someone, I tend to look in
the opponent’s eyes, and look away once in a while. The eagerness will be more contagious
if I tried to keep on looking in their eyes. That's one thing I should change, and for another, I often be told that I kind of
have a scary first impression, because I don't smile much. After reading his article, I can actually realize what I need to change
to have a better impression and how to interact. I better have an ideal image, to change my own social intelligence.
The posture and the facial expression seems to be hard to master.....
Hi Maya,
返信削除I also think that communication and the person's personality are important. In the video we saw in class, Herb Kelleher had the good communication with employees by hugging and attending to monthly dinner and so on. I hope more and more Japanese executives make effort to have communication with people who work under them :)
Hi Maya,
返信削除Thanks for a great post. I appreciate the way you have summarized and applied the key concepts to our readings, and I think it is great that you have read Lean In. You could as a final project focus on women leaders generally and the challenges they face because they are women.
